about the Author
My name is Johanna Thanheiser, and I live in Austria with my family and my three horses. After studying three-dimensional art (model making) and agricultural science, I turned my hobby into my profession and became a horse trainer. Due to physical challenges with my own horses, I specialized in health-promoting biomechanics through numerous advanced training courses in the Netherlands, Germany, and in online courses in the USA.
From observing movement patterns and documenting years of processes, as well as the knowledge gained in these advanced training courses, several essential connections for soundness emerged. Based on these insights, I later founded the Equisensomotoric training concept to provide clients with a tangible framework. The name Equisensomotoric should emphasize not only an analytical approach from the kinesiology of sensorimotorics, but also the factor of feeling movement—the sensory aspect of motorics.
I hope that this content will serve many as another meaningful approach to horse training for maintaining health. While there are already many books and courses on equine biomechanics, I believe there can never be enough practical guides that present all the theoretical knowledge in a way that promotes the horse’s well-being.
I´ve woven this together, because I wish I have seen such content from the start on when I got my first horse. I hope they now serve as a valuable resource for you and your horses.
Johanna
