Statement of the Author
My name is Johanna Thanheiser and I live with my family and three horses in Austria.
I was born 1986 and studied three-dimensional art and agriculture before I became a horse trainer. Over time my focus went on how to restore healthy biomechanics because I observed so many disturbing factors of smooth movement.
To give my clients something at hand, I named my approach Equisensomotoric Training, because I was missing the factor of the immense feel you need to develop as a rider, the senso of the motorics.. the recieving and analysing part rather than making the horse to do something.. and I was also missing the genuine health goals for the horses in many classical or baroque dressage teachings, as the desire to be acknowledged, to be seen or even admired with our horses seems to be the trap for most of us. But, regarding feel and health goals, I want to point out that I do see very dedicated colleagues in totally different riding styles that achieve just the same results.
So please see Equisensomotoric as one helpful approach of many on how to ride and keep our horses sound and happy until an old age. There are already many books and courses on anatomy, but there cannot be enough guides on how to put all findings together into practise for the benefit of our horses.
I´ve woven this together, because I wish I have seen such content from the start on when I got my first horse. I hope it is of great help for you and your horses now.
Johanna
