The diverse tasks of the fasciae

The miracle of the body

The whole body is permeated by fascia, communicates via this network and is held together by it, among other things

Recommended documentary by Arte about the great importance of fascia in the body. Not only in relation to the promotion of fascial spring forces in horses, but also in relation to the discovery that psychological trauma and stress have been proven to act as a messenger for fascial adhesions!
Here it is shown why psychological stress can lead to back pain and, conversely, why the relief of fascial pain can be achieved through e.g. EMDR (a non-contact method of trauma therapy).
I like to use exercises I have developed for horses when they are stressed and also for horses with excessive muscle tone. This is based on the findings of Peter Levine’s human trauma therapy.
The exciting observation from many years of practicing this (non-contact) exercise shows that when stress and traumatic experiences flow out of the horse’s nervous system, the connective tissue (and presumably also the fascia) appears much smoother and more even after a session. After this exercise, for example, the lower necks or back lines are more relaxed, angular, sinewy horses appear much rounder or the horses trot more springily and move more as a unit again – even though the horse was only standing during the session.
The latest research provides the explanation for this and my observations from practice are thus comprehensible in their causality through the interaction of psychologically induced messenger substances on the fascial tension and the therapeutic approach of EMDR against back pain in humans.
